Hussein Mohamed, (FCIArb)

Managing Partner

Hussein Mohamed is a Managing partner at Pegasus Legal where his practice focuses on commercial litigation and corporate legal advisory. Hussein also acts as an Arbitrator and Counsel to parties in arbitral references.

Hussein received his LL.B (Hons) from the University of Warwick, (where he was the recipient of the “Nicky Rose” Prize) and LL,M. from the University of Cambridge, ( where he was the recipient of Chevening Scholarship) and LL.M. from Harvard Law School.

Prior to joining Pegasus Legal, Hussein worked as a lawyer advising the Trial Chambers of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and led the drafting of several milestone Judgements and Decisions of the Tribunal.

For more than a decade, Hussein has represented parties in complex commercial litigation, covering a wide gamut of  issues such as Banking, Insurance, competition, trust, private equity, director’s liability cases, shareholder agreement disputes, mining disputes and commercial and corporate transactions gone awry as well as judicial review of decisions of public authorities impinging on contractual rights.

Hussein also has a wealth of experience acting as an Arbitrator and also as counsel to parties in arbitral proceedings in both ad hoc and institutional domestic and international arbitration. Hussein is a recipient of the CIARB Oxford Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration and is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB).

A heterodox thinker, Hussein relishes forging ingenious ways to tackle intractable problems and to bring optimal resolution to challenging legal situations.

Hussein is also a member of Tanganyika Law Society and East African Law Society.
